Peacock Feather Raku Coin Bank
by Anne & Lowell Webb, 2006
This style of raku coin bank is a form that Lowell, previously of Twinkleberry Pottery,
has been throwing for many years. It is a fully
functional yet somewhat more decorative coin bank than one is used to seeing.
There is a coin slot cut in the top and a
round cut-out on the underside for taking change out with ease.
Comes with a rubber stopper.
The peacock feather motif, inspired by
and based upon Japanese and Art Nouveau design, lends itself well to this form.
The design was incised
into the clay at the "leatherhard" stage and later glazed using 6
seperate glazes, before it was raku-fired.
